Maritime Information
Throughout Dean's life, he has enjoyed boating with the family and with friends. His first boating experience was on his father's home built cabin cruiser and later on a 24' sailboat. These were the carrots that piqued his thirst for being on the water. Later, during Dean's working career, he crewed on various racing sailboats and was hired for two Hawaii to San Francisco ocean crossings. Finally, Dean got his Merchant Marine Captain's License and landed a job piloting a beautiful 60' trimaran sailing schooner carrying passengers out to enjoy the beautiful waters in Kona, Hawaii.
During our first 5 years in Hawaii, Dean has worked several Captain jobs, sampling various companies around Kona and the north Kona coast. He started on a 60' trimaran schooner, then went to a company with five boats: 35' monohull sailboat, 30' glass bottom boat, 31' aluminum dive boat, 55' catamaran sailboat, and a 65' catamaran sailboat. After sampling that business, he went back to the trimaran for a short while then moved to a 65' submarine. An opportunity to be the senior captain of the 60' trimaran came up and Dean took that job but the company suffered several financial blows in Honolulu and suspended operations in Kona. This led Dean back to the submarine where he is now.
